For years, St. Francis on the Hill church has been promoting the goodness of El Paso with its annual St. Francis Day Festival. This year they will again showcase several area charities featuring the Blessing of the Animals.
“This event also honors St. Francis, who was known for his kindness to animals,” notes festival organizer Patricia Tipton. “In addition to the craft vendors and food booths, we’re very excited to have pets from the humane society that will be up for adoption.”
Along with the Humane Society of El Paso, the St. Francis Day Festival will also welcome the Intercultural Center, Keystone Heritage Park, The Boy Scouts, The Girl Scouts of the Rio Grande, the Rescue Mission and others. “The St. Francis Day Festival isn’t a fundraiser,” says Tipton. “It’s a service to the community so the people of El Paso can get better acquainted with these valuable non-profit organizations, and in turn it gives them more exposure to the community.”
The event also features a silent auction with beautiful antique pieces, china and artwork and their “Seconds to Go” sale where you can pick up furniture, slightly used clothing, lamps and other house wares.
The St. Francis Day Festival is Saturday October 4th, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.stfrancisonthehill.org or call 915.584.5967.
