Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino to Host Second Annual Contest Pow-Wow and Native American Arts and Crafts Show

Mescalero, NM – Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino will host its second annual Contest Pow-Wow and Arts and Crafts show Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26, 2008. Admission is free and open to the public.

The 2nd Annual Contest Pow-Wow will feature Master of Ceremonies Dennis Bowen from Arizona - Southern Host Drum, the Otter Trail Singers from Oklahoma -Northern Host Drum, the Wild Boyz singers from New Mexico, plus 22 dance categories and drum contests. Dancer and drum registration is scheduled for Saturday, October 25 from 10a.m. to 4p.m.

The public is invited to the Native American Arts and Craft Show also taking place October 25 from 11a.m. to 10p.m. and October 26 from 11a.m. to 5p.m.. Enjoy a juried show of exhibitors showcasing the finest Native American merchandise. Food concessions will also be available throughout the weekend. Over 30 vendors attended the event last year with approximately the same number of vendors expected this year.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to come out and experience the culture of various Native American tribes from across the country. This is going to be a great event with a host of arts and crafts and an amazing contest Pow-Wow,” Gina Klinekole, Assistant Director of Training and Development at Inn of the Mountain Gods said and coordinator of the Pow-Wow and arts & crafts show.
