LIVE MUSIC RETURNS to MOONTIME PIZZA ….
which is the BLACK MARKET. After a 4 year of hiatus of live music at the physical address of 110 W. Robinson rock and roll has returned on a limited basis. Every Sunday night will feature live music from local or touring out of town bands. Besides this the Black Market will open its doors for "premiere" bands touring through town. To mark the occasion Black Market will host a "premiere" show on Monday October20th. The band is HEALTH from L.A. The band is snotty, schizophrenic and hot off the heels of the Pitchfork music festival this summer w/ the likes of Public Enemy, Animal Collective and Vampire Weekend.
The band will be coming through El Paso on their way to lining themselves up on an opening slot for Nine Inch Nails in 8 cities. After playing w/ NIN they will then be joining Of Montreal for 4 dates on the West Coast. (All tour dates are below)

This slightly schizophrenic noise-rock LA quartet have been honing a name for themselves amongst the warehouses and cement walls of venues like the Smell playing with fellow local patrons, NO AGE, The Mae Shi, Captain Ahab and Mika Miko. Creating a sound all their own, they are bridging gaps between noise and electronic music with their highly palatable sound and captivating live presence.
Armed with the standard rock band arsenal of one guitar, one bass, some keyboards and their already-working-overtime skins man, gets ram parted by other members pounding on electronic drum pads and, of course, fingering a bevy of fuzz and screech gadgetry.
HEALTH recorded their debut full length in one of their favorite places. The Smell is an all ages music venue in downtown Los Angeles. It is open and brick and dirty and dark, but when you sing a church hymnal or hit a drum as hard as you can the sound is beautiful. They did both of these things on their record. They also went out and found equipment born the same time as The Smell, mostly ribbon microphones designed by the BBC for radio broadcasts in the 1930's, things George Martin liked to use, and other things they didn't know about. The record is 11 songs in less than thirty minutes - on it there is new music with old sounds.
HEALTH also had a hand in an 8-bit glitch duo w/ Crystal Castles' recent success. The "Crimewave" single by the Crystal Castles is a HEALTH remix that is currently spinning on the BBC, NME Radio and has charted at position nine in the UK Indie singles chart. The single has also received heavy rotation on SIRIUS Satellite radio.
