One World, One Heart
American Heart Association Hosts 31st Annual Heart Ball

The American Heart Association will host the 31st Annual Heart Ball One World, One Heart, sponsored by Del Sol Medical Center on May 9, 2009. The Ball will be held at the Judson F.Williams Convention Center and doors open at 6:00 pm. For reservations or sponsorship information call (915) 832-0202.

The theme of this year’s Heart Ball is One World, One Heart and will feature cuisine and entertainment from China, Mexico, Italy and America. The evening will be a fun-filled social event celebrating the American Heart Association’s lifesaving work for El Paso families. In addition to the worldly entertainment, local favorite Marimba El Paso will also perform. The work and lifetime achievements of long time El Paso resident and cardiologist Dr. Jesus Roberto Vazquez will be recognized and honored. Dr Vazquez passed away December 2008.

The money raised from the event will fund cardiovascular research and education. In 2007 the American Heart Association funded 146 research studies in Texas at a cost of almost $35,478,166. Still there is a critical gap between meritorious research applications and available funding.

The American Heart Association is committed to fighting heart disease and stroke and raising awareness of these diseases. As part of our mission, we focus on specific causes designed to help people achieve a heart-healthy lifestyle. Each of our cause initiatives reaches out to the public with resources and information to help them take positive action.

For more information on all the cause initiatives visit www.americanheart.org. All proceeds from the Heart Ball will benefit lifesaving research and education efforts of the American Heart Association.
