UTEP Hosts U.S. Ambassador to Mexico
The University of Texas at El Paso welcomes Carlos Pascual, the newly appointed United States Ambassador to Mexico.

In his first visit to the University, Pascual will meet with community leaders and conduct a roundtable discussion about the Mérida Initiative.

The media are invited to attend the event starting at 8:25 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the Geology Reading Room, 3rd floor Geology Building.
President Barack Obama nominated Pascual in June 2009. The U.S. Senate confirmed the nomination in August.

Ambassador Pascual had a 23-year career with the U.S. State Department, the National Security Council (NSC) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). He served as coordinator for reconstruction and stabilization at the U.S. State Department, where he led and organized U.S. government planning to help stabilize and reconstruct societies in transition from conflict or civil strife.
