Pecha Kucha El Paso Night Comes to El Paso!
Pecha Kucha Night begins in El Paso with Volume #1 at Club 101 on July 11, 2008 at 8:20pm
Initially devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham architecture), Pecha Kucha was conceived in 2003 in Tokyo as a place for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public.
But as we all know, give the stage to a designer and you'll be trapped for hours. The key to Pecha Kucha Night is its patented system for avoiding this fate. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each - giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show.
Pecha Kucha (which is Japanese for the sound of conversation) has tapped into a demand for a forum in which creative work can be easily and informally shown, without having to rent a gallery or chat up a magazine editor. This is a demand that seems to be global - as Pecha Kucha Night, without any pushing, has spread virally to over eighty cities across the world.
It's time for the design talent in El Paso to "See and be Seen". The event coordinators are currently seeking architects, graphic designers, musicians, art directors, technologists, photographers, filmmakers, creative students or anyone else with ideas would like to present at Volume #1.
Interested parties can apply using the instructions on the website: http://www.pechakucha-ep.com/apply.php
Volume #1 presenters to be announced on July 1.
Pecha Kucha is sponsored by ASA Architects and digitalstorm studios, and is hosted in El Paso by Club 101.
