First, the news release from EPMG:
El Paso Media Group (EPMG) and El Diario, are proud to announce a content sharing agreement to begin Aug. 1, 2008. EPMG will provide content to El Diario, Inc. to be published in Spanish in the daily newspaper El Diario de El Paso and online at www.diariousa.com.
"We feel this business agreement allows us to continue growing into a regional news source for a growing bi-cultural, bi-lingual audience. We will provide content to El Diario de El Paso much like the Associated Press does for other news organizations. We produce two magazines a month and a daily online newspaper; we can now expect access to 20,000 more readers," says publisher and president Keith A. Mahar.

The news release from ABC-7 KVIA:
Meteorologist Andrew Chung has joined KVIA-TV, ABC-7’s StormTRACK Weather team. Andrew can be seen on Good Morning El Paso Weekend, Saturday and Sunday mornings from 6 to 7 a.m. and again from 8 to 9 a.m.
A graduate of Florida State University, Chung comes to El Paso after four years on the weather staff at the NBC affiliate in Beaumont, Texas. Prior to that, Andrew spent two years at Florida’s News Channel in Tallahassee. He has earned the Seal of Approval of the American Meteorological Society. The Seal is awarded by the Society to broadcast meteorologists who meet established criteria for scientific competence and effective communication skills in their weather presentations.
With the addition of Andrew, ABC-7 becomes the only El Paso television station with four Storm Trackers, providing accurate and reliable weather forecasts and complete coverage of severe weather seven days a week.
KVIA today also announced changes for three of its news anchors. Starting Saturday, July 26, Marissa Monroy will join Abe Lubetkin as co-anchor of Good Morning El Paso Weekend. Ashlie Hardway will now anchor ABC-7’s weekend evening newscasts with Ken Molestina. Beginning Tuesday, July 29, weekend anchor Stephanie Valle will anchor ABC-7 at Noon weekdays from noon to 1 p.m. She will also report for Good Morning El Paso.

Just when you think you can't find "city hall" (KVIA Management) it now turns out that GM Kevin Lovell has seen the error of his ways and decided to move local prodigy Marissa Monroy to morning weekends where she should have been placed from the beginnig instead of throwing her on the air duing the weekday morning show and co-anchoring noon as a "try out" Gotta give the girl credit she did the best she could, but unfortunately she needs a lot more work and was hurting the morning show. Her reporting skills are in need of polishing and her anchoring even more. Working on the morning weekends will giver her a better time to improve and I see her coming back to weekdays after a year or so. Wish her luck. So to the GM Kevin Lovell, let's hope this is a lesson for you to stop going cheap. I see you now decided to more weathergirl Huelgas off and hiring a real meteorologist. Welcome Andrew Chung to El Paso.

Selling news to Diario like a wire service? Reyes Mata's Del Pueblo Press came up with that idea years ago, implemented it, and it was working until the ineptness of Diario's Border Observer led him to resign. Why not steal Mata's haircut and pancho at the same time?

Karla Huelgas was a refreshing addition to KVIA's newscasts. Will she still be doing weather? I especially liked her accent. To me, she better represented the looks and accent of an El Pasoan.

Don't knw about the others mentioned re KVIA, but I think they could take a giant step forward by burying Ashlie Hardway. No talent and irritating mannerisms.

Stephanie as a replacement? Not so sure that was a good move. After watching Bob and Hillary, Robin and Diane and Regis and Kelly, I think we need someone with a little more personality on the noon show. Not Stephanie. At least, Marissa always had a big feel-good smile to bring to the newscast. I'll miss that.

Would you please ask your female newscasters undo their jacket's buttons so they won't look like overstuffed sausages (except for Celina.)

Karla Huelga's look is way to severe in real life and doesn't flatter her at all on camera. Marissa Monroy was Kevin Lovell's worst hire. And saying she needed to be on weekends first is stupid. She went to school for this and they spend hours practicing so get it right already. She and Veronique whateverhernameis, who has also spent hours on camera but you'd never know it, are the weakest links in that newsroom.
