Hey Beautiful & Fabulous Media Friends – Big News….

No more me….

WHAT: I will be leaving my position as El Paso Zoo Marketing Coordinator on Friday, April 3rd. There will not be a specific Zoo Marketing position anymore.

Marketing will be in the hands of El Paso Zoological Society Executive Director Renee Neuert (915) 532-8156
Education Curator Rick LoBello will be the Public Relations person (915) 521-1881
Safety & Security Coordinator Nancy Juvrud will be coordinating events (915) 521-1850.
Noelle Nevarez will be the media liaison:
Noelle C. Nevarez
Public Affairs Coordinator
City of El Paso - Communications & Public Affairs Office
2 Civic Center Plaza
El Paso, Texas 79901
p: 915.541.4915 f: 915.541.4866

WHY: Here’s the 411 of what’s happening….I am moving to Fresno, California. (Shock.. what?.. really? No way, Liz….)

Yes, my husband Robi (who is a seismic structural engineer) has been approached by his Los Angeles based firm to relocate to Fresno for a position at an engineering firm. He has already engineered a few buildings there: Tulare Hospital, River Park Shopping Center, and the Heart Institute in Fresno, in partnership with a firm called Structcon. Robi’s firm will be acquiring Structcon, and Robi will be managing it in the new few years. Phew.

New experience,,, new city,,, and a new position for him. As for me, I might be doing advertising and market development for his firm. If not, I’ll be hitting the pavement with my resume. Hey, if you have time – feel free to drop a note saying how fabulous it was working together doing stories about the zoo. Sort of an “I enjoyed working with you on different activities and think you did a great job of getting out the word for the El Paso Zoo” kind of note. It would go into my “letter of recommendation” files – which I may need. Just email me back (lizirobi@yahoo.com) and that does the trick. Or get fancy and put it on your letterhead. Either way, I am obliged to your kindness.
WHEN: I’ll be here at the Zoo until Tomorrow (Friday, April 3rd) and then do a little consulting for a local non-profit until @ the 8th of June when we start the move. We should be gone by the 11th of June.

BACKGROUND: I have been living here for 13 years so it should be a bit of a change. ( Fresno has terrible Mexican food I hear – so I’ll be eating more El Paso food before I go).

I’ve been at the El Paso Zoo since May 1st 2006, since I left the KDBC TV biz for a different kind of office. A little furrier…. Little shaggier….. I wanted to tell you all that my years at the Zoo have been wonderful and full of strong relationships with people who I hold in the highest esteem for their love for animals and conservation and personal character. (We can save the planet!) Thank you for being supportive to the Zoo Marketing Department in all our crazy endeavors and publicity pushes. I really appreciate your help and humoring me when I asked you to do report a zoo story.

My ten years at Channel 4 (1996- 2006) have been the launching point for so many relationships with people in news, media, and all sorts of community members that I can’t even begin to explain how much I will miss you all.

CONTACT INFO: If you’d like to keep in touch – I am on Facebook (Liz Kern) and can be reached at lizirobi@yahoo.com or my cell 915-204-2248. You can also send info for my address book. If you are in Fresno – look me up – stop by and say hi!
SNIFF: I will miss El Paso and the people that made this city so great! It’s been a real pleasure working and speaking to y’all over the years, and I wish you much success in your individual careers wherever they may take you! You’re the best!!!!!
Love always, the former KDBC / Zoo Chick – Liz
