To whom it may concern,

My name is Eric Jacob Palomares, and I am a senior at The University of Texas at El Paso. I have been nominated to represent my school and community by the University Presidential Inaugural Conference to attend the upcoming Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama.

This Conference brings exceptional students from around the country to an interactive program. I have enclosed a sample of our itinerary for your review. As you can see, this will be a powerful experience, enabling me to interact with many prominent men and women whom most of us only read about in the papers and see on television.

Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life changing experience, and you were unable to participate for lack of funds. That is why I am writing to you today. I come from a single parent home, and am in need of funding for this honor that has been offered to me due to my academic standing at UTEP.

The Conference tuition is $2870, and my air travel to the Conference will cost approximately $700. I am hoping that through your support, you will be able to assist me with part of these costs. I have also considered other possible individuals who have helped students with similar fundraising requests. Your support for my sponsorship request would be greatly appreciated. I am working hard to have fun raisers myself, and am currently tutoring students privately to raise the money. I have a high goal to reach, but turn to you for your assistance to help me reach that goal.

I plan to bring my experience back to share with students from Ramona Elementary in the YISD School District. I have mentored and tutored children from that community, and have brought community members to speak to the students for educational enhancement. They are students of low- socio economic disadvantage, whom I am trying to show how students like myself, can reach their goals if they take the initiative to pursue them.

As noted earlier, I have enclosed background materials on the Conference to answer your questions and help you make your decision. Please the Office of Admissions of the University Presidential Inauguration Conference at 703-584-9896 for any further information.
