Media Watch: How much would you pay for the El Paso Times?

compiled by Elizabeth Ruiz

Yesterday, we wrote in our blog about some confusion over the price of the El Paso Times. A few papers were marked at 75 cents, while many were still priced at 50 cents. We interrupted a few coffee breaks and errand-running to ask El Pasoans how much they would pay for a weekday issue of the El Paso Times.

Some said they would pay 50 to 75 cents for an issue, some said up to $1, while others admitted that they don’t buy or subscribe to a daily paper and get much of their news on the radio or online. “I completely lost track of how much a daily paper costs,” said UTEP language and linguistics assistant professor Pedro Perez del Solar, 42.

Others only purchase the Sunday paper, like waitress Imelda Martinez, 52: “I never buy a daily paper. Everyday I read the paper they have at work.”
