Newspaper Tree Founding Publisher

Position Description: Newspaper Tree Corporation, a nonprofit online news publication in El Paso, Texas, is looking for a founding publisher.

The founding publisher will be responsible for all operations of business, including, but not limited to: strategic planning and implementation, personnel management, fund raising, grant compliance, and community partnerships. The publisher will be accountable to the Board of Directors of the Newspaper Tree Corporation.

The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience as either: a senior management executive in a metropolitan newspaper and/or digital news publishing operation or as a senior management executive in a for-profit or non-profit enterprise(s).

He or she will possess the ability to foster collaboration and teamwork through strong leadership and will bring excellent financial, business and personnel-related judgment to the position. Experience with fundraising is preferred. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree but preferably a master's degree in business or communications related discipline.

Spanish language skills, written and oral, are preferred based on the bilingual nature of this US/Mexico border community.

Salary: Salary range between $75,000 and $85,000, commensurate with fundraising experience.
