EL PASO — El Paso Water Utilities has selected KTSM-TV weekend news anchor and reporter Christina Montoya as Vice President of Utility Marketing and Communication. Effective Oct. 29, she will direct EPWU’s communication, marketing and public relations programs.

The El Paso native has worked as an on-camera journalist for nine years, including five years as an anchor at KTSM. Previous Sun City assignments include general assignment reporter at KTSM and KVIA and KVIA weekend assignment desk editor. She also worked in California as a freelance reporter for Jones Cable News in Palmdale and City TV in Santa Monica.

Montoya’s journalism awards include the Texas Associated Press first-place awards for general assignment report and best reporter in 2006, as well as the organization’s 2001 second-place award for spot news and 2001 honorable mention for investigative reporting. Her work was also recognized by the New Mexico Associated Press and the Texas State Teacher’s Association.

Montoya is a graduate of the University of Southern California – Los Angeles, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and theater.
