MAN WITH KNIFE CHARGES AT OFFICERS

Date/Time: 12-28-2009 @ 12:00a.m.
Location: 1900 block of Corona
Arrested: Lorenzo Carreon, 38 years of age, 1900 block of Corona

EL PASO, TEXAS – A man charges at officers with a knife while officers investigate a “Family Assault In Progress” call in Central El Paso. At midnight, officers responded to the 1900 block of Corona and upon arrival learned that 38-year old Lorenzo Carreon was armed with knifes and that he had been aggressive, however the victim of the “Family Assault” call was able to leave before any assault took place. The officers proceeded to attempt and meet with Carreon at his apartment. As soon as Carreon saw the officers he began to charge at them with a large kitchen knife. The officers immediately drew their weapons and gave commands to Carreon. Carreon ignored the commands and one of the officers due to the time and distance available was able to safely deployed a Taser and struck Carreon. This allowed the officers to safely take him into custody without further incident. Carreon was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant and booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $50,000 dollar bond.
