To defeat an incumbent mayor requires a good deal of public rage, some concrete issues to disagree about and a challenger with a name voters will recognize on the ballot. There’s not much of any of that in this race, and the candidates aren’t helping themselves with the clock ticking down.

Many short-term critics don't use the product, so can they adequately speak for our customers? Yet, they attack the industry and hype a triple-digit annualized percentage rate (APR). No one applies for year-long, short-term loans. Actually, Cash America limits its Texas customers to four renewals annually, so an APR like that is impossible to actually realize.
