In 2005, then Mayor Joe Wardy's 30-day report showed he had $253,181 to spend a month before the election. That was 17 times as much as candidate John Cook had at the time and four times more than he has now as the incumbent seeking re-election.

Continued questions about maquila fire by Frontera NorteSur
Hundreds of travelers were stranded at the Juarez airport because of the maquila fire, which according to a public safety official also made some airport workers ill. The full extent of environmental and property damage still is not known.
