The Democratic Party in El Paso does a good job of sending its information to the masses. Just signed up for Republican missives, so we'll see how that goes. From yesterday's Democratic Party update:

State House District 78 is the #1 Race to Watch
Late last month, Capitol Inside, an online news source of political news in Texas, determined that House District 78 where Democratic candidate Joseph Moody is our candidate, will be the top house district race in the 2008 Election. Capitol Inside states, "The El Paso area district has a higher percentage share of Democratic voters than any House district that the GOP currently holds - and Democrats think they have an excellent chance of picking it up with a young assistant prosecutor who's father is a popular state district judge as their nominee." There are a number of methods to make the whole El Paso Legislative delegation Democratic: First, Moody will be having a fundraiser on May 8, 2008 at 1201 Cincinnati from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
Also, the Moody campaign will be having their first volunteer meeting at 10:00am on May 17th at the Rosales Law Firm at 1400 Montana. Please contact joe@moodyforelpaso.com for more information or if you are interested in volunteering. Also, you can become a Neighborhood Volunteer as well (Find out below).
First Meeting of the 2008-2010 Democratic County Executive Committee and Training
May 13th is the first El Paso County Democratic Party County Executive Committee meeting at 6:00pm at the McCall Center at 3231 Wyoming. Come and join the Democratic Party as we plan events and other items for the 2008 State Convention. These meetings are always open to anyone.
Also, the first training for new and returning precinct chairs will be May 17th from 11am-1pm at the Rosales Law Firm (1400 Montana). The topics we will be covering are over the VAN Voter file system and how to organize your precinct (for precinct chairs who have been to previous trainings, these are similar topics as before, however, you are always welcomed to come for a refresher course).
Please RSVP your attendance at epdemoparty@yahoo.com or call us at 533-2141.
Finally, is your precinct vacant? Learn how you can fill a vacant precinct chair spot.
(reminder, if you were elected as Precinct Convention Chair, this position is completely DIFFERENT from a Precinct Chair)
Become a Neighborhood Volunteer Today!
Under Chairman Boyd Richie's leadership, the Democratic Party is building a team of Neighborhood Volunteers across Texas. Becoming a Neighborhood Volunteer is the best way to help elect Democrats in 2008!
Getting involved is easy. As a Neighborhood Volunteer, you will be in charge of reaching out to 25 voters in your community, finding out where they stand, talking with them about the issues that matter to them, and making sure they come out to vote for Democrats on Election Day. The Texas Democratic Party will provide you with all the resources you need to help build this network and provide access to an online system where you can learn about your voters and report back to us about how they plan to vote.
