Community Delegations will deliver a 2000 Signatures’ Petition to Federal Congressional Offices of Texas-Southern and New Mexico on June 1st

El Paso/Southern New Mexico- May 29, 2009. More than one hundred community representatives and leaders will gather in downtown El Paso as partners to launch the Reform Immigration FOR America Campaign, a broad-base national effort to fix the immigration system through comprehensive immigration reform legislation.
As part of the local launching of the Campaign, the Border Network for Human Rights, along with community members and organizers have collected more than 2000 signatures from our border region to urge our federal congressional delegation in Texas and New Mexico to start the discussion on immigration reform this year. The petition will be given to congressional offices on Monday June 1st, and the 2000 signatures will be display at the press conference at the Plaza San Jacinto (de los Lagartos).
